Bevel gear transmission is mainly used in the intersection of two gear axes. Bevel gears are most commonly used to drive two vertical axes, but they also adapt to the transmission of two axes at other angles. The most typical application is to use a horizontal drive device to drive a vertical pump. The two main differences between bevel gears and spur gears are their shape and their axis. 2.Features of bevel gears
Bevel gears are mainly used to realize the movement and power transmission between two intersecting shafts. The intersecting angle of two shafts is called shaft angle. The value of can be determined according to the need of transmission. Usually 90 degrees, i.e. vertical intersection, are adopted. The teeth of bevel gears are arranged on the truncated cone, so the expressions of "cylinders" corresponding to the cylindrical gears become "cones", such as indexing cone, pitch cone, base cone, top cone, etc. This is also the origin of the name of bevel gears.
Bevel gear transmission has the characteristics of smooth transmission, low noise and large bearing capacity. We know that most steel ingot conveyor rollers are centralized transmission, and the transmission shaft generally has three to five transmission bevel gears, but as long as one of the bevel gear problems (such as tooth collapse, tooth surface wear, etc.), will affect the entire production process.

3.Classification and the main scope of application
1) Straight bevel gears. This is the standard form of bevel gear, its profile section and tapered bus perpendicular to the tooth height in the form of shrinking teeth, that is, from the teeth of the big end (outside) along the indexing tapered bus to the small end of the teeth (inside), the tooth height gradually decreased. The advantages of straight bevel gears are simple in design, manufacture and installation, and easy to adjust. The disadvantages are high noise and impact. They are suitable for low speed transmission (< 5 m/s).
2) Helical bevel gears. Similar to cylindrical spiral gears, the intersection of the involute helical surface of helical bevel gears with the base cone and any conical surface coaxial with the base cone is a conical helix. The tooth profile of helical bevel gears is usually constructed by using a projection curve (i.e. helix of indexing cone) on the indexing cone surface as a design reference, which is a straight line angled with the generatrix of indexing cone on the tangent plane of indexing cone surface. The tooth height of helical bevel gears is also in the form of shrinkage teeth. When a pair of helical bevel gears engage, it is also like helical cylindrical gears. The contact line of the tooth surface is oblique curve. The contact curve first changes from short to long, then from long to short, until it is out of mesh. Therefore, helical bevel gears are more stable than straight bevel gears, less impact and vibration, suitable for medium, high speed and heavy load occasions.
3) Bevel gear with curved teeth. The curve teeth are divided into arc teeth, long amplitude Cycloid Teeth and quasi involute teeth. The tooth height of cycloidal bevel gears is in the form of equal-height teeth, and the tooth height of spiral bevel gears remains unchanged along the points of indexing bevel generatrix, while the tooth height of spiral bevel gears is still in the form of contracted teeth. Curved bevel gears have the characteristics of smooth transmission, low noise and large load-bearing capacity, and are suitable for various mechanical equipment and vehicles (such as automotive differential) with high speed and heavy load.
